Even Tuesdays anyone?

Last night's Odd Tuesday was great, but a little short and a little wet :-). Thanks again Harold for hosting these rides!

Would there be any unofficial interest in riding at Hoyt, Oak Hills, Crystal Ridge or the River Trail on the even Tuesdays? Just curious who would be up for it?

MTBing in Milwaukee

Hi Everyone,

I have recently moved to MKE for grad school at Marquette. I have been looking into some of the trails of milwaukee to do some riding(Joel's river adventure and the river trail) and was wondering how safe are they? I currently live down by Marquette and know that there are some bad neighborhoods on this side of the city as well as some up by the UWM campus. If anyone can give me some guidance, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Nick

Public Hearing about a bike path over the Hoan bridge

Monday, November 14, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the DOT downtown office building located at 1001 W. St. Paul Avenue in Milwaukee.  Chris Larson and other elected officials from MKE will be there.  Unfortunately I will be in class, but a show of support would be a good thing.  Attend if you can.

New to Mountain biking

I've become a pretty avid road biker the last few years and thought I would try mountain biking.  I realize it's late in the year, but, I will give it a go this weekend.

I dove in head first and bought a Trek 4300.  Hopefully it's good enough for a novice like myself.

Any pointers anyone would like to share??

Alpha trail

It would appear that the trail, on the 'out' lane (away from 92nd towards 76) when it runs along the Root River, there is a tree blocking the lane, forcing the rider (me, in this case) to turn back, and continue my ride on the 'inbound' lane until, a few hundred yards up, where I can cut back over again. Of course, this basically forces you to ride onto incoming traffic-not the most sound idea. Does anyone have an alternative route they use to go around this? I use the trail map from… Continue

Oak Leaf Trail

Can anyone tell me if I will be okay using a racing bike on the Oak Leaf Trail in Wisconsin? I'm planning a bike tour around the trail but I'm not from the area.  Descriptions of the trail say that it is asphalt, is that correct?

Also, can anyone suggest a good iphone app for biking.  Again, I'm doing the Oak Leaf Trail and I was hoping to have some kind of map in place so I could just check my phone. Thanks!

MS 150 Best Dam Bike Ride R&D research funding

Metro Mountain friends,

Pardon the Spam (with a purpose) email.  I thank the club for letting me use their Blog for this personal appeal.  R&D is the only means of finding a cure for MS and the Bike MS rides across the country are the number one mechanism for achieving this.  Currently considerable R&D efforts are concentrating on limiting the disastrous effects of this disease, until a viable…

Lost CO2 Inflator

Hey everyone,

My brand new seat bag unzipped itself and jettisoned my CO2 inflator onto the trail at Crystal Ridge / Alpha. It was likely on the Alpha section. If anyone finds it please let me know. The inflator is black and the kind where the cartridge is inside the inflator body.

Thanks! Mike

Alpha/crystal ridge

Trails were in excellent shape, dry and well maintained. Cleared just a few small sticks and branches during my run.

Friends seeking bicylists--July 23+24, 2011

Hello Folks,

My friend and fellow photographer, Peggy Morsch, is looking for bicyclists to join her riding team--Team Camera Gal! She is going to be participating in a benefit ride and is looking for people to ride with here.  Here's what she had to say:

However, how would you like to join my cycling team to ride 150 miles over two days for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society on July, 23+24, 2011?  We ride from Mequon to…

alterra race

Marty, Thanks much to you and Al and anyone else who had a hand in building and placing those boardwalk sections in the HD trail. They helped make a very raceable course yesterday. Also, thanks for the water sprayer at the top of the switchbacks. You have no idea how good that felt.
