TRAIL DEVELOPMENT AT OAK HILL

Now that the Hoyt Park trails are established and officially open METRO Mountain Bikers will now concentrate on developing new trails and rehabbing old trails in the Oak Hill area.  Oak Hillis a wooded section along the Menomonee River bounded by Capitol Drive on the south, Hampton Avenue on the north, Highway 45 on the west, and the Menomonee River Parkway on the east.  The area has been ridden for years but the trails have not been maintained and much of the trail is not sustainable.

The METRO work will initially concentrate on the southwest section between the river and highway 45.  A good deal of new trail will be built into the hillside.  We invite riders to join us in our efforts.  Work days will be scheduled on weekends throughout October and November until the ground is frozen and again in the Spring when it thaws.  We meet on the Menomonee River Parkway under the Capitol Drive bridge.  See ClubMTB.com for the workday schedule or contact Marty at 704-6350/Harold at 962-8431.

The Milwaukee County Trails Council has completed the draft of County Trails Network Plan. The Plan, as well as a map and brief questionnaire are available online at
