About Heritage Trails Park

Metro's newest trails are still growing, and open during construction. Currently, there is around 6 miles of singletrack and flow trail, including several expert jumps and drops.

The trail segments range from beginner to double black diamond and are designed to help riders build their skills. A few of the segments include:

  • Fraggle Rocks - Easy: A beginner trail designed for riders ages 3-12 and those new to biking. It provides a safe environment for families to teach their children how to balance, pedal, and brake. The trail features banked curves (berms), small rollers, tabletops, skinnies, and rock gardens, keeping young riders engaged and introducing them to mountain biking elements as their skills progress. Located next to the parking lot, Fraggle Rocks allows parents to join their children on the ride or watch from a distance.

  • Take on Me - More Difficult: Over 2 miles of machine-built traditional single track for intermediate riders packed with berms, descents, climbs, rock gardens and even a couple optional jumps. This trail offers a peaceful ride through the forest, perfect for those who love the outdoors. It provides a great cardio workout, enhancing fitness while enjoying the natural beauty of Southeast Wisconsin. The trail's diversity of natural beauty is particularly noteworthy. Riders will encounter large cherry trees, traverse through hardwoods, pass a hidden pond, and ride through a cool meadow blanketed with wildflowers in the spring.

  • Young Guns - More Difficult: Young Guns is the perfect blue trail for all skill levels looking to get into jumping and hangtime. The right side of the trail features rollable tabletops, ideal for beginners. Once mastered, riders can move to the left side to try larger dirt jumps with bigger gaps and more hangtime. The smaller tabletops are built similarly to the larger jumps, making it easy to progress. If you can clear the smaller tabletops, you’ll be able to tackle the larger jumps next to them. Young Guns is a great trail to bike with friends and family, perfect for skill progression and enjoyment.

  • Dirt Waves - More Difficult: Designed for intermediate and higher skill level riders, ages 8 and up. This trail offers a roller coaster-like experience with its turns, berms, and elevation changes, providing a fun and dynamic ride. Unique to the Midwest, Dirt Waves feels like riding a bobsled-roller coaster track. Riders can enjoy a seamless flow from start to finish without pedaling, as the trail maintains speed using elevation changes.

  • Hipster - More Difficult: The newest edition to the park. Hipster was designed for everyone with optional advanced rider options.

  • Double Dragon - Very Difficult: Over 1 mile of pure machine-built flow designed for intermediate to advanced riders who enjoy speed and catching air. It serves as a great warm-up trail for those seeking fast downhill rides and quick, punchy uphill climbs. This Black Diamond trail features large wooden drops and jumps, challenging even the best riders. With two access points and a rear loop, Double Dragon is perfect for an all-day session to progress your mountain biking skills. Although it is a Black Diamond trail, Double Dragon includes bypasses that are equally fun, allowing intermediate riders to safely enjoy the trail and work up to larger features. The unique wooden features of Double Dragon attract many visitors from out of state due to their quality and the trail’s overall design.

  • Gunslinger - Extremely Difficult: A fast and speedy trail packed with dirt jump features, and constructed features like a cannon log, rainbow ride, and numerous kickers. It's perfect for throwing down your favorite tricks or learning new ones. Similar to Young Guns, Gunslinger offers two options. One side features larger rollable dirt jumps for intermediate to advanced riders, allowing them to progress at their own pace. The other side is filled with gaps and slopestyle features for advanced riders only.

  • Future plans include a dedicated jump line, bike park, more singletrack, and more flow.
