On behalf of Metro Mountain Bikers and Washington County Parks, we want to share why the new 2026 Trail Pass is critical to the future of mountain biking at Heritage Trails County Park.
In 2024, in partnership with Washington County Parks, MMB completed a Master Plan for Heritage Trails County Park. This plan includes over 8 miles of new, approved trail development in addition to the current trails. The next phase—beyond the skills area—depends directly on funding from the new Trail Pass. Simply put, we cannot continue building without your support.
100% of Trail Pass revenue goes directly into new trail construction. This is how we continue transforming Heritage into a premier regional mountain bike destination. Down the road, additional funds may also support park amenities such as bathrooms, gathering spaces, fire pits, and electrical upgrades.
Washington County Parks operates as a self-funded park system, meaning gate fees cover general park maintenance and infrastructure—not mountain bike trail construction. The Trail Pass is the only direct way to fund new trails.
While Metro Mountain Bikers is a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization, building high-quality trails requires significant equipment and financial resources. The average cost to design and build a single mile of flow trail is approximately $75,000—and that doesn’t include the signature features that make Heritage unique.
If you ride at Heritage, please purchase a Trail Pass. Broad participation is essential before we can move forward with new construction after the skills area is complete. Next in the sequence is the Double Dragon Return trail.
After your purchase, you will receive a visible tag to hang under your seat as proof of support. This will identify those who were generous enough to help build more trails.
Thank you for helping us build something truly special for you, the riders. Together, we can make Heritage the best regional trail systems in the Midwest.
